Dear Resident,
A man’s been convicted of drug offences after our officers caught him in Handsworth. They were on patrol around Villa Road on 5 August when they spotted a man acting suspiciously. He wouldn’t stop for officers, who chased him, and as they did, he threw a bag over a wall. It was recovered and found to contain a large quantity of Class A drugs, while we also seized a phone that showed links to drug dealing. In total, more than 400 wraps of drugs were seized, which were tested and confirmed to be crack cocaine and heroin. Mohammed Jangheer, aged 45 of Village Road, was charged with possession with intent to supply both crack cocaine and heroin but denied both offences. Following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court, he was found guilty of both last Monday (20 July) and has been remanded in custody ahead of being sentenced in September. Drug crime brings harm to communities, which is why we’re working so hard to tackle it. If you have concerns or information about this type of crime, call 101 or speak to us via Live Chat on our website.
